Willem Meiners

WillemWillem

Born into poverty in war-ravaged Europe, Willem Meiners was Holland's youngest newspaper editor in the 1980s. He was treating patients with psychosocial disorders as a therapist when his passion for adventure drew him to come to America. He started from scratch in Maryland, wrote thirteen books in three languages, and co-founded what has eventually became one of the nation's largest book publishing companies.

A former student of AHC, Willem owns a Robinson R44. In 2007 he took it with former AHC instructor Stephan Goldberg to circle the North and South American continents, from Alaska to Antarctica and back, together setting two long-distance world records.

He is a trustee of the Advanced Helicopter Youth Foundation and flies in his helicopter to prisons where he and his bride Alice bring a message of hope and inspiration to inmates who are preparing to re-enter society.
